Pills are often not sweet, the compounds within have sometimes local side affects e.g. induce dyspepsia or are either poorly absorbed or disolved in the gut. NovaSOL® solubilisates can help to overcome some of these limitations.
Especially in cases of lipophilic compounds with poor bioavailability and poor dissolution NovaSOL® ist the most appropriate solution. Surrounded by a hydrophylic surface in small nano-like particles the compounds can pass the unstirred water layer of the intestine and will be absorbed without gall or pancreatic activity.
If a lipid soluble compound enters the intestine its absorption is only possible if a few conditions are fulfilled:
- The lipid must be incorporated into mixed micelles by means of pancreatic encymes.
- The outer part of the micelle becomes “water soluble” via “incorporation” of bile acids which is of great importance to surmount the small water film unstirred water layer covering the so called brush border membrane of the intestine were absorption takes place.
- The mixed micelles must be reduced in diameter (approx 50nm) otherwise they cannot pass the unstirred water layer.
