AQUANOVA is a leading supplier of innovative liquid solutions (“solubilisates”) for a broad spectrum of well known raw materials and active substances (e.g. vitamins, fatty acids or phytoextracts). In accordance with nature´s architecture, AQUANOVA develops, produces and together with partners markets these solubilisates (product brand “NovaSOL®”) utilizing its proprietary and patent protected technology in close cooperation with renowned scientists and experts. The basis are nanostructured carriers (so called “product micelles”), which are thermally, mechanically and pH stable. These carriers, which are structured according to nature´s architecture, exhibit an average diameter of only approx. 30 nm. AQUANOVA solubilisates are ready to use enablers for the development and production of innovative and pioneering products in the fields of nutraceuticals, (functional) food, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals. The absorption of the active substances, carried by the solubilisate (product micelles), and the resulting bioavailability are significantly increased and optimized. In addition the solubilisates generate unique technical features and benefits such as superior antioxidative capacity for oils and fats.

AQUANOVA was founded in 1995 as Aquanova Getränketechnologie GmbH with head-quarters in Mannheim. The headquarter was moved to Darmstadt in 2001. In the fol-lowing years the company concerned itself with the development of solubilisation tech-nology. In the beginning the focus was on solutions for the beverage industry. Building on the positive scientific results, further fields of application were increasingly appear-ing so that AQUANOVA is now a technologically leading supplier of solubilisates and nanoscale encapsulation for nutrition as well as the health, cosmetics, pharmaceutical and general industries.

Within the first ten years the company optimised the technology and built up a strong IP portfolio for numerous possible applications. Along with this, AQUANOVA supported a range of scientific research studies, in particular in the field of the bioavailability of solubilisates. The results of these studies confirm the sustained superiority of AQUANOVA's solubilisation technology. Economic confirmation occurred in 2005 as the company was also able to sign partnership and sales agreements with globally industry players.

The year 2004 saw the setting up of the company's own production plant which was completed in the spring of 2006. In parallel to the setting up of the production plant, the required certification occurred (ISO 9000:2008, GMP, halal, kosher, etc.), which is now fully concluded. The conversion to AQUANOVA AG occurred in October 2006.
