Product Micelle

The product micelle allows to create crystal clear solutions ("solubilisates") of lipophilic or waterinsoluble substances not just from a visual standpoint.

The product micelle is stable with respect to pH and temperature and has a diameter of approximately 30 nm. Here, where microemulsions and liposomes prove to be problematical and unsuitable, the product micelle represents the optimum solution in the fields of foodstuffs (functional food), cosmetics, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology (nutritional solutions for cell and bacterial cultures). The 100% watersoluble micelle can be integrated directly and independently of recipe characteristics into final products in the quoted fields.

The product micelle is proving to be an optimum carrier system of hydrophobic substances for a higher and faster intestinal and dermal resorption and penetration of active ingredients.

Advantages of the AQUANOVA micellation.

1. Production technology
The incorporation of micellated fat-soluble or water-insoluble substances into final products occurs directly and without additional intermediate production steps and independently of matrix and final product quality.

2. Resorption / penetration
Scientific tests prove the high dermal penetration and intestinal resorption of micellated active ingredients.

Fat-soluble active substances, such as Vitamin E, are resorbed with the aid of bile salts and enzymes via micelle formation in the small intestine. However, this process is associated with low bioavailability of the relevant substances. Due to AQUANOVA product micelles, the physiological mechanism of intestinal micelle formation is bypassed and consequently, a higher bioavailability is achieved.

3. Stability
In comparison to emulsions or liposomes, AQUANOVA product micelles are thermally, mechanically (shear forces) and pH-stable (gastric acids) as well as being insusceptible microbiologically.

4. New possible applications for water-insoluble substances
For difficult or previously unprocessable substances, the quoted advantages of the micellation of active substances open up completely new application possibilities in the foodstuffs, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals sectors as well as in the field of biotechnology (nutrient solutions)

5. Environmental conservation
Due to higher resorption and better bioavailability / penetration of the micellated active substances, the concentrations of active substances in the final products could be reduced.

This would represent a contribution to environmental conservation.
